Mason Kirkpatrick Scobey, Jr., a 1974 graduate of Nashville School of Law, passed away on July 21, 2023.

Scobey was born on June 21, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1960, George Peabody College in 1964 with a BS degree in Business Administration, and received his J.D. degree from NSL. He was a member of the Tennessee Bar Association.

He worked for Commerce Union Bank and then Equitable Securities Corporation where in 1991, he started and managed their new subsidiary, Equitable Trust Company.

“Kirk was an incredible mentor and friend.  He was the person who encouraged me to go to law school. Kirk changed the course of my life.  I am eternally grateful for his influence and support.” said Cindy Jones, Partner and Trust & Estate Advisor at Equitable Trust and 1996 graduate of NSL.

In 2012, Scobey retired from the company as President and moved to Destin, Florida. He continued to serve on the Board as Vice Chairman through the end of 2022.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Nancy Kindig Scobey, his four children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
