TO:                 2018 Cooper Term Graduates

FROM:           Dean Koch

Commencement ceremonies provide an occasion to celebrate significant achievements and to set the stage for the next chapter in a student’s life.  The commencement ceremony for the 2018 Cooper Term class will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the Renaissance Hotel/Nashville Convention Center located at 601 Commerce Street, Nashville, 37203.  I look forward to seeing you and your family and friends there.

The ceremony itself will begin at 11:00 a.m.  In order to stay on schedule, please plan to arrive no later than 10:00 a.m.  Your family and friends should plan to be seated between 10:15 and 10:30 a.m.  The seating is first-come, first-served.  The faculty and the graduating class will line up for the procession at 10:30 a.m.  A photographer will be present before, during, and after the ceremony.  Public parking is available at several nearby parking garages and surface parking lots.  Convenient parking places can fill up quickly.

Dressing rooms will be provided for you to change into your tam and gown.  Please follow the signs to these rooms.  You are responsible for returning your tam, gown, and hood to the school within one week following the ceremony.  For your convenience, staff members will be available following the ceremony, and you may return your tam, gown, and hood to them at that time.  It is your responsibility to make sure that one of the staff members marks down that your tam, gown, and hood have been returned.

If you are NOT planning to attend the ceremony, please notify Beth McDonald at Beth.McDonald@NSL.law or 615.780.2241.

If you are planning to take the bar examination in July 2018, please make sure that you have visited the Board of Law Examiners website and that you have noted the deadlines for submitting your application.  The deadline for applications is May 20 and if you have not begun for application, you are in danger of not completing it in time.

Please do not hesitate to contact the office if you have any questions about the upcoming commencement ceremony or your bar application or if we can be of any other assistance to you.
